UPSTAR provides Skill Assessments by an expert as a core feature to add expert verified skills to a candidate’s profile. Skills assessed by an expert bring an immense value and trust to a candidate’s profile and open an ocean of opportunities from prospective employers.

Candidates can request for a Skill Assessment session by an Expert on UPSTAR. Each request is matched with an Expert on UPSTAR based on various parameters including the candidate’s profile, skills, and the details provided in the request. After matching with an expert, the candidate can schedule the session based on expert’s availability and confirm. The detailed flow of the request is presented here.

What are Skill Level and Proficiency? What do they mean ?

UPSTAR follows a unique skill assessment scale that comprehensively provides understanding of how good a person is at a skill. Skills are measured on two key parameters – Level and Proficiency. Level is a percentile measure which denotes the level of expertise compared to everyone else with the same skill. It is measured on a 5 Level scale (Beginner, Advanced, Expert, Master, and Star). Each level representing a group of Percentile Points from 0 to 100.

Proficiency is a measure of how good you are within a skill Level. This can be used to get deeper understanding within each Level of a skill. It is measured on 0 – 100 percentage (%) scale.

What are the various types of Expert Sessions that can be requested on UPSTAR?

There are 2 key types of expert sessions that can be requested on UPSTAR – Assessment and Guidance.

An Assessment Session can be requested for any skill that you possess or looking to improve. An expert assessment will go a long way in building a credible profile on UPSTAR. Candidates with expert assessed skills stand a high chance of getting direct shortlist for jobs.

A Guidance Session is a 1:1 expert session, and can be requested on any topic of your liking as well as specific skills that you possess. A Guidance Session also includes an expert assessment on skills mentioned or relevant to the topic.

How do I get an expert matching my profile and interest?

Expert matching is done using the detailed profile of the user and inputs provided in the request. It is recommended that users complete their profile in full including the skills that they possess.

Can I request a Guidance session by an expert for more than one person?

Yes. A guidance session is usually a 1-on-1 session, however, it can be requested for a known group of people with common profile or interests.

Can I request a Skill Assessment by an expert for more than one person?

No. Skill Assessments are focused 1-on-1 expert sessions to assess the skills of an individual and provide detailed assessment on their depth of expertise including Level and Proficiency within the Level.

Can I request an Expert Session for someone else?

Yes, you can request any expert session on behalf of someone else. However, you need to add them as participants and each participant need to accept your request.

What are Problem Statements on UPSTAR?

Problem Statements are live problems created by experts where candidates can participate and compete with their peers to solve. Each problem statement has its own format and guidelines defined by the expert. All problem statement are moderated by experts and each participant is assessed live on the problem statement. Experts may choose to reward the participants based on the results and format of the problem statement they create.

UPSTAR presents candidates with exciting opportunities to get hired directly based on their profile and expert assessed skills. Problem Statement also present direct job opportunities based on the results of participation.

What is instant hire? How do I qualify for instant hiring on UPSTAR?

Instant hire is a unique feature on UPSTAR where candidates with expert assessed skills and expert recommended profiles get hired instantly by employers and recruiters on UPSTAR. UPSTAR enables instant hire feature automatically on profiles of candidates who have taken expert skill assessments and expert guidance sessions.

Are skill assessments must for instant hire opportunities on UPSTAR?

Yes. Skill assessments by an Expert on UPSTAR is mandatory for instant hire opportunity.

What are Coins on UPSTAR? How do I use them?

Coins are equivalent of credits on UPSTAR. Each Coin is equal to 1 INR. Users can utilize the coins to pay for sessions or entry fees for Problem Statements on UPSTAR.

Session Balance is used to pay for 1-on-1 expert sessions on UPSTAR.

What is the difference between Session Balance and Coin balance?

Coins are more versatile than Session Balance on UPSTAR. Coin Balance can be used for everything from expert sessions to problem statements on UPSTAR. Session Balance can NOT be used for anything other than 1-on-1 expert sessions on UPSTAR.
